The Soulgenic app aims to combine four components of wellness – fitness, nutrition, mindfulness and general health – into one programme and will feature regularly updated videos, such as work-out classes and meal plans.
And one local company has already signed up to provide the app to its 1,000 employees to encourage them to think about their health.
The app, which will go live in the coming months, was the brainchild of Jersey-based entrepreneur Glenda Rivoallan, who is the founder of the Healthhaus brand and has opened more than 200 fitness clubs.
It is being developed by local software firm Webreality with video content due to be put together by another Jersey-based company, Slingshot Films.
Soulgenic has already been boosted by the signing up of its first corporate client, the Channel Islands Co-operative Society – which will be providing the app to its 1,000 employees.
Ms Rivoallan, who also runs a St Helier gym under the Soulgenic brand, said that a unique selling point of the app was discounts which are offered to users who maintain a good fitness routine.
‘We are thinking of offering the app at a subscription of around £19.95 a month, but if users sustain their routines they get bonus points,’ she said. ‘As they get more bonus points their subscription decreases and it could reduce by as much as half.’
Ms Rivoallan said that the app would register participation in activities if users watch at least 60 per cent of each video that is uploaded, with work out class features lasting about 25 minutes and diet plan sessions about five minutes.
She added that the Co-op signing up to the app for its employees had been a major boost for her company’s ambitions.
